(preview evening 7 – 9pm)

The Great Dome Art Fair an exciting launch in the 2008 Buxton Summer Festival season, showcasing the full membership of an already well established, dynamic and versatile group based in and around the Peak District. It will give visitors a rare opportunity to meet all the Peak District Products artists, designers and food producers in person under one big amazing roof, in the shape of the famous historical Royal Devonshire Dome. The unique range of work to be showcased in the Dome often reflects the artists’ home environment, from Caroline Chouler-Tissier’s award winning ceramic landscape mosaics, to Jill Kerr’s rural range of linocuts, or Melvyn Tolley’s Windsor chairs in Derbyshire grown yew. The group has earned itself quite a reputation for quality, originality and skill, as illustrated in the re-styled 2008 catalogue of members featuring the motto: “individual creativity, collective excellence”.

Postcard Project Raffle and Free Prize Draw
Many visitors in the festival season tend to share a passion for the Peak District with the resident artists and local population. As an underlying theme for the weekend fair PDP will launch the Peak Passion Postcard Project, with all exhibitors contributing an original postcard for display and raffle, coupled with another display for visitor contributions.  A workspace will be dedicated to this project in the Dome, with table providing equipment and materials giving all the budding artists out there an opportunity to illustrate and exhibit their own particular passion for the Peak District…

In addition to hands on participation, visitors can also enter our free prize draw!
