Talks and Demonstrations

A free programme of talks and practical demonstrations by PDP members will be taking place throughout the weekend.  This is an exciting opportunity for visitors to watch professional artists and designers at work, gain insight into the methods and ideas behind their work and ask questions.

TALKS: located in the lecture theatre. DEMONSTRATIONS: located in a sectioned off part of the Dome

Saturday 24th July

10.00: Verina Warren Talk- 45 mins
Textile artist Verina Warren will give illustrated talk on new work - exploring inspiration and techniques.

10.30 David Golubows Demonstration - 45 mins
Chocolate making demo.

11.00 Ingrid Karlsson-Kemp Talk - 45 mins
Storytelling in mixed media

11.30 Caroline Chouler-Tissier Talk - 45 mins
Creating a ceramic platter illustrating a landscape of the journey of landlines around Solomon's Temple

12.30 Suzy Shackleton Demo -30 mins
An introduction to fine art Felt Making - practical demonstration

13.00 Chris Farrow Talk - 45 mins
Peak Winter - A personal view of the Peak District Winter Landscape set to music

13.30 Sandra Orme Demo - 45 mins
Creating pastel land and skies using two different types of pastel paper.

14.00 Dave Butcher Talk - 45 mins
A talk on the Lake District - entitled Lake Light - the title is from my new book of the same name launched on 7th March at the NEC - copies available at The Great Dome.

14.30 Sue Gorman Talk - 45 mins
An opportunity to handle clay whilst listening to Sue’s talk about her artistic journey and how play can enhance creativity!

15.00 Brett Payne Talk - 45 mins
Brett makes extraordinary Candlesticks by hot forging Sterling Silver. All his work is hand made in his workshop in Sheffield’



Sunday 25th July

10.00: Elizabeth Forrest Talk- 45 mins
An illustrated talk (using Powerpoint) about Elizabeth's lettering and paper making work, describing techniques and inspiration

10.30 Kim-Lisa Clack Demonstration - 45 mins
Kim will be demonstrating her new range 'No Strings' using heat shrink plastic tubing and glass nuggets and balls.

11.00 Alison Counsell Talk - 45 mins
'Mapping the Landscape' Alison Counsell from Wapentac will be talking about the development of the Wapenmap.

11.30 Mark Langley Demo - 45 mins
Demonstrating some of the more complex and fine drawing techniques involved in colour pencil work.

12.00 Newfields Gallery Talk - 30mins
Ceramico Designs established in 1977 to Newfields Gallery… our journey so far by Gail Keep

13.00 Wongsam Design Talk - 45 mins
Starting and developing an art-based small business.What we did right and what we did wrong.
